Exceptional Waivers Give Enviro-Septic® Extreme Advantages Over Other Products

Thanks for inquiring about the impact of the NHDES waivers relating to the impermeable substratum and the seasonal high water table (Env-Ws 1014.04 and Env-Ws 1014.05 respectively). The separation distance for the Enviro-Septic® wastewater treatment system to the permeable substratum/seasonal high water table is now reduced to three feet whereas all other systems require four feet of separation. The separation distance is measured from the bottom of the Enviro-Septic® pipe to the top of the estimated seasonal high water table or impermeable substratum.

These waivers were given because of data received from extensive third-party tests conducted in Canada and at the University of New Hampshire and presented to the NHDES. These tests compared the Enviro-Septic® wastewater treatment system with conventional pipe and stone installations and determined beyond question that the Enviro-Septic® system is by far more effective, efficient, and environmentally safe.

These exclusive waivers mean a great deal to homeowners or commercial businesses. Here are just a few of the advantages.

  1. More in-ground installations will be feasible. In-ground installations eliminate the need for costly and unsightly mounded systems.

  2. Raised systems will be lowered by a foot, making them less obvious, require less fill, and, therefore, be less expensive.

  3. A system previously requiring a costly pump may no longer need one. Installing a system a foot lower could accommodate a gravity system.

  4. Designs previously requiring elevated building foundations to allow for gravity fed systems could eliminate or reduce this requirement. Handling of large amounts of costly fill would be eliminated and greater site flexibility realized.

  5. According to the Env-Ws 1014.06 (the 50% rule) 2 feet is the closest any part of a sloping system may come to the water table or impermeable substratum, while at least 50% of a sloping system has to be installed three feet above the seasonal high water table or impermeable substratum. These new separation distances could help resolve grade problems relating to gravity feed systems and also make the natural terrain the easier to follow.

  6. System locations will be more site flexible. A mere one-foot adjustment could allow a home or building to be more conveniently situated on a site.

  7. When using Multi-LevelTM Enviro-Septic® installations along with the Env-Ws 1014.06 (the 50% rule), designs now can be set so that the lower lines are a minimum of 2 feet above the seasonal high water table or impermeable substratum and the top lines will be a minimum of 3.5 feet above the seasonal high water table or impermeable substratum.

In general, saving money and providing enhanced installation flexibility are two major factors affected by these waivers. Add to that the superior environmental protection offered by Enviro-Septic® and you have the key to our continuing growth and acceptance throughout North America.
